History

Maine Ministry Outreach Center (MMOC) is the result of a vision to train and mobilize young people in the service of the Jesus Christ, and to assist them in the discovery and use of their gifts in reaching others with the Gospel. Our purpose could be summed up in these three words:
Evangelism, Engagement, and Encouragement.

MMOC is a ministry for the Local church, so, the assistance of local church members is incredibly vital to its function. Our passion to join forces with the believers of Maine in order to reach and disciple youth more effectively. .  It is with the love and support of the many people throughout this area that this work continues to grow, and has now grown into a new organization.

Our Name MMOC:

Maine - Location of ministry and sphere of work
Ministry - The training and mobilization of youth leadership
Outreach - The essential priority of evangelistic and restoration work
Center - The organization of these outreaches, including a visions for a future location

This photo copied from the archives of Rockland First Baptist Church illustrates the main purpose of MMOC. Pastor Willard Pratt (circa 1913) is present in the center. This photo is of a group of 25 men gathered for the purpose of reaching the lost. Oh, to have men gathered today with such a heart as this, to reach “Knox County For Christ”. Ninety years later, in 2003, along with Donald Pendleton and a few other men, the very first Epaphras Prayer group was founded with the intention of men from various churches praying for area youth, our families, area church leadership. When this photo was found in 2008, I was reminded of the rich heritage that we have in the gospel, and that it takes constant prayer, hard work, and organization to involve God’s people in the task of reaching people for Christ.

A VISION FOR MAINE
Beginning in Knox County
Beginning in 2002 and for many years, these events, missions, and ministries operated under the auspices of Appleton Baptist Church, with the kind attention and hard work of its members.  Also, we have been blessed by the faithful assistance of folk from Spruce Head Community Church, South Hope Community Church, West Rockport Baptist Church, and other area churches. Littlefield Memorial Baptist Church now hosts our home office and the members here have been greatly involved in the continuing work of MMOC.
While serving as pastor in Appleton, God increased my burden and passion for working with youth.  As a result, I have sought to answer the call of God upon my heart to organize this work.  God taught me early in life that I should use the “tools in my tool box” in order to accomplish the task at hand.  This work is dedicated to encouraging and organizing the gifts of the body of Christ.
